You sweet talkers are going to love this Betty Crocker!! SO much has changed in the past few years in the vegan world. We have celebrities, doctors, former presidents....we have multitudes of cookbooks, soymilk at the corner store and the word vegan is in the news with POSITIVE stories more often than not! Progress, people! Yes!
And now, it has been shown, that everything can be made vegan. The Betty icon feeds her family with ease and convenience, never sacrificing taste. And that is exactly what Annie & Dan Shannon have done with Betty Goes Vegan.
From the expected Betty-esque recipes like The Vegan Meat Lover's Pizza Casserole to standbys you will use time and again, like omelets, quiches, taco salads and pie crusts - Betty Goes Vegan is a celebration. Vegans truly DO have it all. We have meat with no dead animals, we have cheese with no pus, and we have flavorful and fun food. We can be health consious or we can throw caution to the wind, just like everyone else in the world. You want to know what to do with vegan shrimp? Need some comfort food casseroles? Unsure about where to procure such things? Betty Goes Vegan has it all. You know many of these recipes from your childhood dinners, but now it's time to bust out with Vegan Betty and eat!
NOTE! I've read a couple of Amazon reviews of this book that point out how it isn't a healthy vegan cookbook and it relies heavily on meat and cheese analogues. People! We're talking about a book with Baked Vegan Chicken and Waffles in it! The whole point of this book is to make the craziest, most meaty and cheesy recipes vegan, not to make them into health food. Who the hell would want a "healthy" Cheezeburger Pie anyway? We have lots of healthy, whole foods based cookbooks if that is what you're looking for. But this is not one of them, this is celebration food and it's awesome!
