Product Description

So excited about this game! If you have kids or spend much time with them you know how ubiquitous the non-veg-friendly imagery is in kid's books and games. You also know how confusing those images are for kids. Perhaps, like us, you long for games and books and media that will support and further your efforts to teach kids about animals and compassion. It can be a real drag  being the only source of positive and honest information about animals in a child's life, and this is why we love this game.

The goal of the game is to rescue animals and if you rescue all of them (a dog, a cat, a pig, a cow, and a chicken) first you win. It's a similar format to most board games where you pick a game piece to be, and roll the dice to move around the board. When you land on a star you get to answer a question about animals from the stack of question cards. When you land on the farm, animal shelter, or choices cafe space, you enter those and either spin the spinner to rescue an animal, or you order a vegan dish off the menu at the cafe to rescue an animal. There are score sheets included to keep track of who has rescued what and who is winning.

Our 1st grader loves the game and we tend to play several times in a sitting. We love that it reinforces the values we've been teaching her about animals, as well as all the facts she learns from the question cards, which range from animal anatomy facts (like what the red part on top of a roosters head is called) to more issue related questions like how many kittens can an unspayed cat have in her life (with a reminder after the questions to spay and neuter your pets!) It's GREAT to be able to do something totally normal, like have game night, and have these values be supported and backed up instead of that kind of information always coming from mom or dad.

Game is recommended for kids age 6 and up. There is some reading involved, which can all be done by the adult if kidster is not yet a reader.
