Fresh, healthy and creative African-American cuisine. Terry serves up his own brand of soul food that's peppered with African influence, a Southern upbringing and his modern, urban life. Each recipe is made fully complete with a recommended soundtrack. So far I've loved every dish I've made from this book. The Citrus Collards Redux is simple and amazingly delish. The Black Eyed Pea Fritters have a flavor that is addictive. Cumin-Cayenne Whipped Potatoes are surprising and scrumptious. Next up for me are the Johnny Blaze Cakes and the Tempeh, Shiitake Mushroom and Cornmeal Dumpling Stew. The beverage chapter has something for those who imbibe and those who don't....and it's something different in a vegan cookbook! This one is a winner, to be sure.
